SEA-Tech provides marine ICT training in Ireland and around the globe.  While the specific class list varies, core classes taught in most locations include topics such as marine data communication, USB, TCP/IP, power supply, software navigation.  Both lecture and hands-on lab classes are offered and classes are taught by trained marine ICT engineers.  Classes are available for seafarers across any range of experience with a strong emphasis on security and ICT best practice at sea.
 
All our courses are taught over a mix of class based, distance education and elearning. Private one to one tuition is also available. All our course materials are available online and each student is availed a dedicated intranet account and document sharing to communicate with the instructor, during all the duration of the course. All you need is a laptop running Microsoft Windows® 7 or a Macbook (OS-X), a minimum of four gygabytes of memory and a dual-core processor, a high speed internet connection, a microphone and speakers.
We are also available to study with you your Marine ICT training needs and custom training development is also possible in some cases.

Short Description:

As we become more connected cybercriminality is growing, another 24% increase in cyber attacks against business in 2017. Designed for personnel working at sea using computers on board ships or on land, such as VTS operators this course focuses on the usage of computers in maritime environment and the risks associated with it. Building awareness while studying possibilities available to hackers to run cyber attacks in maritime environment. Attendees will learn how to anticipate computer threats, use emails and internet where possible in a safe maner....  This course is also a good foundation for Marine Data Communication course.

Short Description:

This module focuses on providing, through specific workshops designed by SEA-Tech, the skills and knowledge necessary to install and test network cabled installation, operate, and troubleshoot marine data communication elements, including configuring a switch, a router, setup a long distance wireless bridges connecting to a WAN including Satellite connection and implementing network security in a shipboard environment. A strong emphasis is given on the basics of data communication in maritime environment. All workshop include setup of real equipment such as physical routers, IP cameras.

On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to describe how networks function, including packets, components, protocols and the Open System Interconnection (OSI) reference mode. Each learner will be in a position to identify switched LAN technology solutions to Ethernet networking issues, key nodes on a LAN with a view to use command-line interface to configure a router in a WAN environment. Each attendee should be able to build a LAN using hardware components, particularly using marine based technology such as SeaFi (SEA-Tech) Wi.M.A.N. concept. Each participant will produce as part of a group a network or network component to demonstrate an understanding of network operation and/or data analysis.

Course available on request, in Cork, this course is delivered to groups of 6 to 8 people over one week, eight hours a day. This is a very intensive and challenging course mixing together classroom workshop and onsite visits. The course is supported by local, national and international sponsors. More particularily suited for superyacht & ferry crew it is also an ideal introduction to technical customer services support for personnel on board ocean liners. Ideal mix of technical skills and social interation this course is a balance of computer skills, security and human factor. Beyond hard skills and soft skills learner will learn to self improve key technical support core skills such as flexibility, patience, problem solving and technical knowledge.
